About the role:

A vacancy has arisen for an Executive Assistant to join the Vice-Chancellor’s Office.

You will provide a professional and confidential executive support service and work collaboratively with other Executive Assistants in the Vice-Chancellor’s Office to ensure a seamless support service to the Vice-Chancellor’s Group.

This opportunity will allow you to play a key role in supporting the achievement of the strategic objectives of the University and develop extensive knowledge of its activities and key internal and external stakeholders. You will be required to provide high level administrative services including diary management, organising travel and supporting itineraries, managing financial administration and expenses, drafting correspondence, prioritising emails, undertaking background research and analysis, and the management and servicing of meetings, including the preparation and dissemination of agendas in a timely and appropriate manner.

This is an excellent opportunity to experience work at this level and to be successful in the role the right candidate will have the ability to work under pressure and have experience of managing a varied and demanding workload. You will be able to utilise initiative in prioritising, fielding and responding to queries, communicate diplomatically with, and act as the initial point of contact for, internal and external contacts, ensuring a professional image is maintained at all times.

About you:

Candidates will hold a Level 3 qualification, such as A Levels or BTEC, or appropriate equivalent experiential learning. You will have strong communication skills and a track record of dealing with confidential and sensitive information with discretion and diplomacy, maintaining confidentiality at all times.

About the role:

The School of Dentistry requires Dental Nurses to join our onsite clinic-based team. This role requires a suitably qualified, GDC registered dental nurse to work flexibly providing nursing across our clinical teaching activities, patient based regulated activities, supporting external epidemiology studies and oral health promotion. 

Nurse roles within clinic provide chairside set up and support for the teaching programs including implantology, periodontology, endodontology, oral surgery, prosthodontics, BDSi DClinDent and clinical teaching classes. Tasks include but are not limited to: 

• Compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and update training. 
• Supporting and assisting the range of clinicians onsite (Consultants, Dentist, Therapist, Hygienist visiting academics or students). 
• Provide pre and postoperative advice and instruction for dental procedures. 
• Preparation of clinical areas including instrument sterilization, cross infection control and all relevant information, equipment, and materials in readiness for the treatment of patients.
• Full chairside support

Working hours for these roles are 36.25 per week. Shifts will be between 08:30-18:15 Monday to Friday. 

About you:

Candidates will need to evidence substantial experience in a busy dental environment, possess knowledge of SOE and demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.

You must be registered with the General Dental Council and hold a National Certificate of the Examining Board for Dental Nurses or NVQ level 3.

The School of Arts and Media are looking to appoint a Senior Demonstrator to deliver on the BA(Hons) Photography course. BA(Hons) Photography at the University of Lancashire has an excellent reputation for delivering graduate success and high-ranking scores in the National Student Survey. 

Photography is a rapidly evolving subject area, and teaching staff are expected to keep up to date with professional developments and align project briefs and teaching sessions accordingly. Students work across a range of photographic genres and develop their photographic practice through structured delivery and independent study, utilising specialist technical spaces to produce high-quality photographic outputs.

You will work as part of the Photography team with teaching responsibilities across areas of course delivery including teaching, assessment, feedback, and course review, while contributing to the administrative duties required of the course. This will include the delivery of practical teaching sessions, workshops and tutorials to undergraduate level students, helping to provide support to students in completing their practical projects and assignment work.

About you:

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant subject or closely related discipline, with experience of working within Photography and understanding of the practical and theoretical skills relevant to photographic practice, alongside an understanding of how to develop these skills in students.

About the role:

Reporting to the Catering Manager you will be a member of our kitchen team, providing catering to both residential and non-residential students, as well as assisting with catering for activities and events at the University. You will undertake a variety of tasks, including maintaining the service areas and associated cleaning and providing excellent customer service.

This role is based at Summergrove Halls, close to our picturesque Westlakes Campus which is based on the Westlakes Science and Technology Park in West Cumbria, just three miles from Whitehaven. Westlakes is a beautiful place to work. And when you’re not hard at work, you’ll have some of the country’s most beautiful and dramatic landscapes on your doorstep, just waiting to be explored – from the Lake District to the Solway Coast. 

About you:

You will have significant and recent catering experience, a Level 2 Catering qualification (or equivalent) and a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification. We will provide you with further training including Level 3 Food Hygiene. 

Additional information:

This is a fixed term role for 12 months and is term-time only, which means that you will only be working for 36 weeks of the year (during term time). We will require flexibility across the week during term time (including weekends) but it means that you are not required to work during the vacation periods. Your pay will be spread across the year which means that you will be paid the same salary every month whether it is term time or vacation.

We are recruiting for a part time Buildings Cleaner to provide a high-quality cleaning service to our buildings; cleaning both internally and externally as required using equipment provided. The role is based at our Preston campus. 

This is a fixed term contract to cover parental leave until September 2027 or earlier; dependent on the return of the substantive postholder.

About the role:

This is a pivotal role within the Facilities team at the university, leading our frontline facilities service and playing an integral role in improving the customer experience.  The postholder will provide leadership and strategic management of all internal operational facilities services across the University’s Preston Campus, ensuring safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery of all soft FM services by ensuring that internal facilities operations support strategic plans and student experience.  They will act as part of the FM leadership team and act as a principal link between Internal Operations and other key services to ensure that the estate is maintained to the high standards

About you:

The successful candidate will have facilities management experience along with a positive and proactive approach to challenges. They will have strong people management skills and the personal drive to support the team with the aim of always striving to enhance the student experience and service delivery. Experience in a senior facilities or operational role providing excellent customer service in a busy and varied environment is essential as is experience of managing the delivery of all FM operations within a university environment including residential/living accommodation. 

You will have attained or be working towards a NEBOSH General certification or have proven knowledge and experience in statutory Health and Safety, compliance and risk management. You will also have an NVQ Level 5 qualification in FM (or be working towards) or equivalent experiential learning.
