About the role:

The School wishes to appoint a Senior Lecturer to join our committed MBBS teaching team. You will assist the SSC Lead with the delivery and assessment of the student selected components (SSCs) in Years 3 and 4 of the MBBS programme. SSC3 and 4 take the form of a longitudinal project in audit and quality improvement respectively and are delivered in primary, secondary and social care settings.

You will identify and maintain a portfolio of appropriate SSC opportunities and placement supervisors for delivery of SSCs and work with the Phase 1 SSC staff to ensure a spiral and integrated approach throughout the MBBS course. You will provide training and support for students and staff and will contribute to all aspects of assessment.

About you:

You will have worked within the NHS and will have significant experience of research methodologies, audit and service evaluation in a clinical setting. 

You will have an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) and a PhD in a relevant subject.

The School wishes to appoint a Lead for Student Selected Components to join our committed MBBS teaching team. The post is for 1.5 days per week, and must include Thursday. 

Student Selected Components (SSCs) are a mandatory component of the clinical years of the MBBS and focus on the areas of clinical audit and quality improvement. The postholder will lead in delivery, management and assessment in the area of Quality Improvement within Year 4 of the MBBS programme, and will contribute to the area of clinical audit within Year 3 as required.

About you:

Applicants will have substantial and recent of working as a doctor and will have a full registration with the General Medical Council. You will have significant experience of research methodologies, audit and service evaluation in a clinical setting within the NHS, and of working within undergraduate medical education.

About the role:

The School of Medicine wishes to appoint an Assistant Lecturer to join the MBBS team. 

The postholder will be responsible for supporting the planning and day to day delivery of two of the MBBS Year 5 teaching blocks. One mandatory block focused on Evidence Synthesis research skills for all students delivered to the whole cohort over the year. Additionally, delivery of an optional student advanced block involving practical implementation of evidence synthesis skills.

The postholder will contribute to teaching for both elements of the year 5 course. This will also involve work on the BEST guideline and review production unit’s extensive portfolio of evidence synthesis research projects, including international and national guidelines, systematic reviews, and other related projects, as this produces the content for both elements of the curriculum. 

The post holder will work mainly at the Burnley campus, but some attendance at Preston campus may also be required. 

About you:

You will have an understanding of evidence synthesis, a range of review traditions, and associated methods, and evidence of contribution to a range of stages in evidence synthesis research projects. Experience of teaching, both large group and small group facilitation is essential. An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject is essential.

The School wishes to appoint a Clinical Senior Lecturer to join our MBBS teaching team. The postholder will support the delivery of teaching and assessment of medical skills on the Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course. They will focus on simulation-based learning, integration of surface anatomy and physical examination, point of care ultrasound and prescribing. Additionally they will act as a Personal Tutor for students, and will contribute to other assessment activity and student support.
