The aim of the project is to significantly reduce the quantity of hazardous waste going to landfill from motor vehicle dismantling and shredding of non-metallic parts such as upholstery and plastic components known as Automotive Shredder Residue (ASR). It also has the potential to reduce overall landfill tonnage by finding alternative use for recoverable waste product.
