About the role: 

The School of Engineering and Computing at the University of Lancashire is home to a vibrant and growing community of students and staff across a broad range of Engineering disciplines including aerospace, mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering. We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering to support teaching and contribute to a high‑quality student learning experience within the electrical and electronic engineering provision.  

The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to structured module delivery and to provide high‑quality academic and pastoral support within the subject area. The post holder will contribute to the assessment of credit‑bearing work and provide timely, constructive feedback, both formally and informally, to support student learning and professional development in electrical and electronic engineering.  

About you:

You will have experience of teaching in a higher education environment within Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline, and will demonstrate a strong commitment to high‑quality teaching, student support, and inclusive learning practices. You will be IT‑literate, able to work effectively on your own initiative, and contribute positively as part of a collaborative academic team.  

You will hold an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, together with a relevant postgraduate qualification.

Within Mechanical Engineering, there is a growing focus on human‑centred engineering, including the application of mechanical principles to living systems, medical and assistive technologies, ergonomics, and advanced manufacturing. 

About the role:

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, ideally with interests in Biomechanan‑Centric Systems, to support teaching and contribute to a high‑quality student learning experience within the mechanical engineering provision.

The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to structured module delivery and to provide high‑quality academic and pastoral support within the subject area. The post holder will contribute to the assessment of credit‑bearing work and provide timely, constructive feedback, both formally and informally, to support student learning and professional development in mechanical engineering.

This appointment will play a key role in delivering high‑quality teaching and research, contributing to curriculum development in mechanical, biomechanics and human‑centric engineering, supporting student progression and employability, and enhancing the overall student experience across Engineering programmes.

The role is based in Preston.

About you

You will have experience of teaching in a higher education environment within Mechanical Engineering, Biomechanics, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, and will demonstrate a strong commitment to high‑quality teaching and student support. You will be IT‑literate, able to work effectively on your own initiative, and contribute positively as part of a collaborative academic team.

You will hold an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject, together with a relevant postgraduate qualification. You will also be able to demonstrate a developing research profile that complements activity within the School, with the potential to deliver impactful outputs in areas such as biomechanics, human‑centred design, assistive or rehabilitation technologies, ergonomics, or medical device engineering. 

You will hold professional membership of a relevant professional body (such as the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Engineering Council–licensed institutions, or equivalent), or be working towards professional recognition, with clear evidence of developing eligibility for membership.

About the role:

This is a limited term 2 year post hosted by Global Ardour Recycling Limited and the University of Lancashire. The aim of the project is to significantly reduce the quantity of hazardous waste going to landfill from motor vehicle dismantling and shredding of non-metallic parts such as upholstery and plastic components known as Automotive Shredder Residue (ASR). It also has the potential to reduce overall landfill tonnage by finding alternative use for recoverable waste product. Working within the Research Development and Innovation Division, this is a 24-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) and is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to the company at an exciting stage in their development. 

This role will be based on site at Global Ardour Recycling Limited based in Preston. 

About you:

We are looking for a candidate with demonstrable capability within either Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. You will be experienced in working with organic materials and have excellent presentation and communication skills to be able to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders. 

You will need to have an undergraduate degree in a relevant area.
