About the role:

The School of Psychology & Humanities are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Psychology for a 12-month fixed period. We are happy to receive applications from applicants seeking either full-time or part-time roles for the 2026/27 academic year.  The post-holder will contribute to teaching, research and knowledge exchange. We are looking to appoint individuals who can contribute to teaching and assessment across the BPS Psychology curriculum and ideally can deliver specialist teaching in at least one of the following areas, Forensic Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or Research Methods.

These posts may require the Lecturer to work across both the Preston and Burnley campuses as required. We are looking for people to work in a supportive and collegiate manner and contribute to our positive and inclusive work environment. 

About you:

We are keen to appoint individuals who can deliver high-quality teaching and learning to our students that is underpinned by high-quality research. You should have experience of teaching in a higher education environment in psychology with evidence of outstanding delivery and learning support. You must have an undergraduate degree and postgraduate qualification in psychology or closely related subject, and ideally a PhD in a relevant subject. We require the successful applicants to have the ability to teach and supervise dissertations at both undergraduate and master’s level. You should have the ability to undertake research and knowledge transfer activity, including evidence of high-quality publications/research outputs.

About the Role

The School of Psychology & Humanities are seeking to appoint a part-time (0.2 FTE) Professor of Psychology. The post-holder will undertake internationally recognised research and provide academic leadership. They will contribute actively to the creation of a vibrant research environment and to the development of research strategy underpinning the sustainability of world-class research at the university. 

We are looking for someone to lead on knowledge transfer opportunities arising from their own research and scholarship, including the development of an Impact case study. They will obtain external funding to support their research activity and disseminate their research in high quality journals. We expect the post-holder to network widely nationally and internationally for the purposes of building the reputation of the research within the University, and the wider academic and research community, as well as building and maintaining relationships externally.

We are looking for someone to work in a supportive and collegiate manner and contribute to our positive and inclusive work environment. 

About you

We are keen to appoint an individual who has a strong track record of research leadership who can make a significant contribution to research, consultancy, and practice in Psychology. The successful applicant will have experience of developing a high-quality Impact Case Study suitable for submission to the Research Excellence Framework. You must have a sustained output of world-class research and publications in Psychology and a track record of securing research funding from a variety of grant awarding bodies and sponsors. 

It is essential to have a PhD (or equivalent) in psychology or closely related subject. You must have a proven track record of successful supervisory experience of research students at doctoral level and a track record of working effectively with research networks, consortia and collaborations. Extensive history of consultancy / knowledge transfer and impact development is important for this role.
